Canadian Consul General Abina -
Honorary President
Consul General Abbie has embraced her role as Honorary President and been a key supporter of the CIS since her arrival in Sao Paulo in 2008. This her second posting to Brazil, which just shows what a huge fan she is of the country. Abbie has opened her home for many CIS events, including fantastically successful Noite das Estrelas in 2009, and Luzes do Mundo in 2010, as well as various happy hours, lunches, and of course the annual Christmas Potluck Dinner. In addition, Abbie is a crucial part of the CIS behind the scenes, providing greatly valued guidance to the board.

Priya – President
Priya has long had one foot in Brazil and one in Canada. A naturalized Canadian, she has spent time living in the United States, and has resided in Brazil for the past 10 years. Priya joined the CIS in 2010.
She obtained her original degree (in Nursing) from the University of Maryland, and has periodically pursued further qualifications in the US while largely working in Brazil. Most recently, she completed an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh.
Professionally, she has worked in management mainly in the medical and pharaceutical fields. She has managed operational activities for several important clinical studies in HIV, tuberculosis, and lung cancer. Currently, she serves as the Head of Nursing for Latin America for a large multinational medical device company.

Sabrina - Vice President & Membership
Sabrina is a Brazilian Canadian, who grew up here in Sao Paulo, and studied at university in the United States. Sabrina became a third generation member of the CIS when she joined in 2010. Her mother, Lynden, is a long term member of the society, and her grandmother was a founding member, back in the 1960's!

Sandy – Treasurer
A Swiss-Brazilian, Sandy grew up in the US and the UK but spent most of her adult life in Brazil. She works autonomously with Strategic Marketing and Event Coordination in Brazil and around the world. Her interests include contemporary art, reading and traveling. Sandy is a second-generation CIS member, and joined the society in 2010 after accompanying her mother, Olga, to many of its events.

Brigitte - Secretary
Brigitte comes to the CIS by way of Columbus, Ohio. A native Canadian, she grew up in British Columbia where her and her husband Andrew had their two sons, James and Haydyn. They moved to Columbus in 2002, and then to São Paulo in 2010. Brigitte has extensive experience in finance, accounting and administration. She is also has a history of working with associations and including as the secretary of a large high school ice hockey association.

Thais - Charities
Thais is a Brazilian, who lived in Canada for 5 years, and now works with Trade at the Canadian Consulate in São Paulo. Amongst her many interests, her favourite activities are sports and travels. Thais has been a CIS volunteer since 2010.

Ilka - Events Board Member
Ilka Paulete is a Brazilian Canadian who has lived mostly in Sao Paulo and has part of her family in Mississauga, Ontario. She manages Casa Canada and became a CIS member in 2011. Ilka has academic and commercial ties in the are of tourism and events.

Natalie is native to Montreal though has family all over Canada. After completing a master's degree in Germany in 2010, she moved to Sao Paulo with her Brazilian husband Diogo. She works in the area of international energy markets and clean technologies. She joined the CIS in 2010. Natalie enjoys learning new languages and cultures and playing Ultimate Frisbee.
